Once time was conceived it received a name in Sanskrit it was called "Kaal" or "Kal" . Kaal had many children, here on earth we see them too. Sandhya, Uma, Usha, are some of the beautiful daugthers who playfully wander across the horizon at dawn and dusk. Similarly Kal had many sons, grand sons, great grand sons and great grand daughters. They have unique personalities, and habits too. For example one of the sons of Kal is Grishma Kal (Summer Time) who married the daughter of earth called Grishma Ritu (Summer Season), they had many children for example heat also known as Tapas, who causes perspiration and makes people thirsty, another daughter of Grishma Ritu is Abundantia, the one who ripens the fruits, and crops everywhere in the world. Vasant Ritu (Spring Season) daughter of Earth married Vasant Kal (Spring Time) and they had many children one of whom is called Harsha who inspires happiness and joy in people.
If you can understand this concept in literal and poetic way then you can appreciate many folktales from around the world and also the many stories we are going to share here from the ancient books collectively known as the Puranas, wherein we encounter the story of Kaliyug, who is one of the many sons of Kal. Who one day stood before a king, Raja Praikshit and asked if he would allow him to stay in his Kindgom.
